Address by Cornerstone Community Church, Senior Pastor

According to the 13th Century tradition, the prophet Samuel presided over the world’s first university, which was called the School of the Prophets. It was organised in the colleges of Bethel, Kirjath-Sepher and Kirjath-Sannah (2 Kings 2:3-5 ). By the time Elijah the prophet came on the scene, the School had been very well established and the impact that it was going to make was formidable.

Under the tutelage of Elijah, the “sons of the prophets” were positioned to change the entire spiritual landscape of Israel and Satan knew it. So he raised up the Jezebel spirit to counteract all that God was seeking to do, to thwart the plans of God. Jezebel murdered many of the “sons of the prophets” but 100 of them were preserved by the Lord (1 Kings 18:4). In due course, God judged Ahab and Jezebel. Under the prophet Elisha, the School of Prophets, established in Bethel, Jericho and Gilgal, flourished once again and the prophetic power of God was released in Israel.

It is with this thought that we want to present to you the School of Leadership. The whole world is in darkness and in great need and the answer to the darkness is the Church. The Church has been called “the light of the world” and Jesus, in the Church, the hope of glory. It is our vision to raise up an anointed and equipped army of on-fire Christians, to thrust them into the harvest fields of the unreached, unchurched and unsaved. Can we raise a harvest force of human catalysts for God’s purposes of transforming nations through the Gospel? Many young men and women waiting for the opportunity to be sent, and we can ill afford to send them without putting the tools they need into their hands, and to hone them in character and in abilities so that they can be productive in God’s call upon their lives. The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
